More than $22,000 contributed to local food bank as part of BYU vs. U of U Food Fight
SALT LAKE CITY—Dec. 9, 2009—Young Living’s employees have a history of community involvement, and 2009 is no exception.
For the second year in a row they’ve made the largest statewide contribution to the BYU vs. U of U Food Fight. In November Young Living employees donated $17,788.75 to the United Way of Utah County, with an additional match of 25 percent from Young Living, for a total contribution of $22,235.94.
“We love partnering with United Way and the Community Action Food Bank to help meet some of the needs in our community,” says Young Living CFO, Steve Bentley. “It's time we all do more, and this has been a great way to engage Young Living's employees in reaching out to help our neighbors.”
The food and money raised during the annual event goes to support the Community Action Services and Food Bank. The second largest food bank in Utah, the Community Action Food Bank serves Utah, Wasatch and Summit counties. The Food Fight greatly contributes to the more than 2.3 million pounds of food distributed yearly—each dollar raised purchases 15–20 pounds of food.
