Young Living's First Annual Platinum Club

Young Living Platinum Club 2009

The first event of its kind, November’s Platinum Club took well-deserving attendees on an unforgettable five-day adventure into the heart of Ecuador. There, Young Living independent distributors, corporate employees, and executives came together to learn, relax, and enjoy many once-in-a-lifetime adventures.

Welcome to Ecuador

After arriving in Quito, Platinum Club members awoke to a private welcome breakfast with Young Living Founder and President Gary Young. After filling up on the delicious fare and each receiving a new Panama hat, attendees prepared for the journey through the Andes Mountains to the city of Baños. During the bus ride, distributors were able to converse with Gary in a small setting, many asking questions and sharing their own experiences. Ever eager to share his knowledge with others, Gary captivated his audience as he spoke about his clinical and farming work with frankincense, recent travels to Oman, and shared his excitement about the upcoming International Grand Convention in June 2010, where he plans to reveal all of his discoveries.

As the bus traversed the Ecuadorian countryside, riders were taken through a eucalyptus forest, viewed volcanoes, and passed Mount Cotopaxi—towering 19,000 feet above sea level. Upon arrival in Baños and following lunch at Luna Ratun, distributors were free to explore their exotic surroundings for the rest of the day. One group even repelled through picturesque waterfalls, braving a 130-foot free fall!

Adventures in the AmazonP1010994

The next two days of Platinum Club were full of unforgettable activities, packed with everything from river rafting and repelling to shopping and some much needed relaxation. One afternoon, groups met to make a two-hour venture into the jungle to visit a shaman’s community. Villagers in traditional clothing greeted distributors and reenacted hunting scenes using native blow dart guns. Group members also witnessed a wedding ritual and had their faces painted by the locals. Following a delicious dinner, distributors and villagers joined together for a night of dancing.

Tour of Guayaquil

IMG_1312The last day of Platinum Club was perhaps the most memorable. Members were taken to Guayaquil, the heart of Young Living’s Ecuador operations. Beginning with a visit to The D. Gary Young Foundation's Chongon School—where grateful students performed a talent show and showed off their new school—distributors toured Young Living’s Ecuador farm, Finca Botanica Aromatica, visited the essential oil distillery, and explored the Palo Santo forest. While at the farm and distillery, the distributors learned about distilling oils from Gary and were able to see the distillation of ishpingo, Palo Santo, ruta, and ocotea. A special bonus of the trip—each Platinum distributor was given a bottle of the oils distilled that day!

Recognition Dinner IMG_0955

After learning and absorbing new information all day, it was time for the recognition dinner at the Hilton. The Young Living executive and sales teams recognized new Platinums and applauded everyone for a job well done, and—as is custom in Ecuador—distributors were bid farewell with a traditional mariachi band.
