DIY kid’s muscle rub
Treat your little ones to a soothing massage with this DIY muscle rub.
Ingredients:
- 1½ tablespoons beeswax
- ¼ cup coconut oil
- ¼ cup sweet almond oil or other liquid carrier oil
- 20–25 drops essential oils (see suggestions below)
Instructions:
1. Combine beeswax, coconut oil, and sweet almond oil in a heat-safe bowl.
2. Fill a pot halfway with water and place it on the stove. Bring to a boil, then turn down the temperature to medium-low.
3. Place the bowl of oils on top of the pot to create a DIY double boiler. (Caution: Do not let any water from the pot mix in with the oils.)
4. Stir the oil blend frequently until all ingredients are completely melted.
5. Remove bowl from the pot. Wipe off excess water on the outside to avoid cross-contamination.
6. Allow the mixture to cool for 3 minutes before adding essential oils from one of the below blends.
7. Stir to incorporate the essential oils with the melted oils.
8. Pour mixture into jar and allow to cool completely before placing the lid on the jar.
Nighttime essential oil blend
This blend pairs well with children’s wind-down routines, since it features the calming, soothing scents of Lavender, Marjoram, and Roman Chamomile.
- 7 drops Lavender
- 7 drops Marjoram
- 7 drops Roman Chamomile
Daytime essential oil blend
Awaken your children’s senses with this massage blend that features delightfully sweet Tangerine paired with comforting Marjoram and the relaxing scent of Roman Chamomile.
- 7 drops Tangerine
- 7 drops Marjoram
- 7 drops Roman Chamomile
How to use DIY muscle rub
When you’re ready to use your muscle rub, apply a small amount to clean hands, then massage sore muscles. A little goes a long way with this DIY! Start with a small amount of product, then apply more if needed.
