Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I would for sure put Frankincense in the batch because I'm obsessed with the smell of it. Another oil that I love and use as my perfume very regularly is Northern Lights Black Spruce, especially during this time of the year when the Holiday's are coming! Just talking about it makes me want to go make it and even give it as Holiday gifts for friends and family!

  • Geranium Essential Oil has a very nice aroma. I would add Geranium Essential Oil.
Coconut oil and Coco Butter are very good moisturizers. I look forward to trying the recipe!

  • I like Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense. This 3 oil is my favored oils,I use this as my personal Massage oils.

  • Oh I love peppermint, lavendar and Peppermint would be nice. Just makes me wake up and feel refreshed. Orange works well too.

  • I love this! I usually make my lotion with Shea butter, but the cocoa butter would already lend it a sweet chocolatey smell. I guess to match that I would have to choose something decadent like ginger or Jasmine. I think Jasmine would be better for the skin, though. :-)

  • I would use also Gentle Baby, Lavender and Rose oils. I think these will make a gentle fragrance and it will be so soothing to the skin. It would be very calming and peaceful too!!
