Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I have made a similar cream, using, coconut oil, cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, with lavender eo, lemon and patchouli.

  • There are several I would try, but I think mixing cedarwood with citrus or bergemot would be a nice mix!

  • I will try Lavender, Frankincense and myrrh in this body cream recipe as lavender in relaxing whereas Frankincense and myrrh have the regenerating effect to skin. Last but not it, it will smell very nice!

  • Just made this and I LOVE it!! For essential oils I added Lavender, Frankincense, and a couple drops of tea tree oil! I will definitely be using this every day :)!

  • I love body butter and I would certainly use this throughout the winter when my skin is the driest. I would use Patchouli in it. Patchouli is my go to fragrance. I get so many compliments when I wear it and my husband loves it. That makes it all the more special.
