Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I would love to try this recipe with Clarity for the daytime and Lavender for the evening. I am also thinking that PanAway for the post workout would be delicious

  • I prefer to use Shea butter, rather than cocoa butter, and would use patchouli and geranium. Mmmmm! That would be especially lovely after a soak in the tub with Epsom salts, baking soda and either the same oily combo or a complementary one.

  • Oh my, the options are endless!!! I would definitely put some Frankincense in it and then I would have to decide if I want Joy, Geranium, Patchouli, Stress Away, Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Jasmine, Bergamot, Elemi...I had better get started making some, so I can make them all!!! :)

  • I can't wait to make this for myself, my family and my friends! My blend will be Cedarwood and Tangerine, grounding and uplifting and balancing ... and pure luxury for the skin! Just ordered my ingredients through smile.amazon.com and now the Young Living Foundation gets to benefit, too!

  • When I make this recipe I will be using Elemi. I love frankincense (who doesnt?) BUT I would love to spread the love on the rest of my body besides my daily facial moisterizer (with frank). So Elemi is more cost effecient for me right now.
