Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I would try lavender for bed time, Panaway for my feet, lemon for a fresh summer scent (lemon and coconut together sounds heavenly), but my first batch would have to be frankincense for it is my favorite oil.

  • I would use a few drops of "Present Time" - because it has Neroli in it, and I adore Neroli. I would add a few drops of "Joy", and a few drops of Frankincense.

  • I'm going to try joy essential oil and orange essential oil when I make the homemade Body Butter.

  • I am going to try this for a give away. I think lavender, frankincense, patchouli and geranium would be wonderful!

  • This may sound off the wall, but I may combine this recipe with orange essential oil. I feel like coconut scent mixed with orange will create a beautiful transition from summer into fall!

  • I will definitely try this! I think I will try Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood and Ylang Ylang. Two of my favorites!

  • For myself, I'll be using Manuka, Frankincense, and/or Lavender. For gifts, I'll be using Stress Away, Lavender, and/or Cedarwood!
