Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I think geranium would be a great smelling oil to try in the body butter. Thanks for the recipe! I will be making it soon.

  • This sounds wonderful! The recipe I have been using has coconut oil and half cocoa butter, half mango butter. When I make this, I will be adding rose, lavender, manuka and frankincense oils! What a pampering my skin will have!

  • I would use the lavender for sure, frankincense if I had it and would be willing to try out the cedarwood as it's one I haven't had in my body butter. Others I would think about would be cypress, sandalwood or Joy.

  • This whipped body butter is wonderful! I made mine with Frankincense essential oil and it smells amazing!

  • I saw a recipe with these oils in it: lime oil, grapefruit oil, lemon oil, and tangerine they sound very energizing and uplifting. They sound like they would make a wonderful Aroma for first thing in the morning! Lol!
