Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.
Whipped Body Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic coconut oil
- 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
- 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)
Directions
- Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
- Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
- Stir in essential oils.
- Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
- Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
- Massage into dry skin!
I would add Myrrh to the Lavender, Frankincense and Cedarwood.
I made my first batch today! Not sure how it’s going to turn out.
I used cocoa butter, coconut oil, Frankense, Patchouli, and Lavender.
It didn’t whip up like I thought it would. Maybe I used to much oil and not enough butter.
Will try it after my shower. We will see how it works.
I would definitely put STRESS AWAY in there and maybe even a few drops of COPAIBA and LAVENDER.
PEPPERMINT would be fun for the holidays and a bit of a lift if sleepiness hits. These would make GREAT gift ideas!!!
Rosehip oil, Manuka and Ledum
Lemon, lavender and thyme :)
I would love to use Lavender, Cedarwood, Vetiver and Patchouli probably!

Being a nurse and instructor on my feet I would add lavender, lemongrass and helichrysum.

I would make with the oils in the recipe. Those are 3 of my favorites.
My body cream would have to have
Cedarwood & Lavender. Love how relaxed Lavender always is for me, and Cedarwood helps my family like me at night.
I was thinking about white Angelica or Release. I have a massage business and these help me leave my work at the office. Plus they smell great! Putting them in a body butter would be divine.
Neroli and Geranium would be in my body butter!!
Frank and Lavendar! This looks like a great idea for Christmas presents!
Love this idea. Can’t wait to try it.
I would use Joy in the body butter because I like to use Joy in place of cologne. That way I would be layering the scent.
Have tried making butters and soaps but I need a substitute for coconut oil as I can’t handle the smell. I’ll keep trying and will try this recipe when I figure it out!
