Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.
Whipped Body Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic coconut oil
- 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
- 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)
Directions
- Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
- Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
- Stir in essential oils.
- Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
- Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
- Massage into dry skin!
Lime and Stress Away for that Calm Tropical scensation
I’m new to Young Living and I’m collecting as many recipes as I can as well as stock my supply to share with others! I’m so in love with YL oils! Thank you, Sherry
I would definitely use rose or frankincense oils with this body butter. I can’t wait to try this recipe, and I will use it as a great make and take gift for attendees.
Stress Away + Lavender :)
I would love to use different oils for different reasons. I am a fan of Motivate your purpose and Joy.
Lavender and Tea Tree
I would do Frankincense and Lavender!!
I like to start my day with geranium shower gel. Would be even better in body butter.
I am torn between using Peppermint and Frankincense, Geranium and Lavender … or for night-time use probably Stress Away and maybe Valerian.
I would try clarity for a day butter and lavender for a nighttime butter.
I’m going to give this a really good try! I’m going to use Frankincense, Peppermint (love the cooling effect) and LEMON (enjoy citrus in EVERYTHING) and maybe a little Lavender too. I am a new user to YLEO.
I would use Young Living Lavender essential oil to start with.
Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense are the oils I would choose as well!
My favorite is Patchouli oil. And my second on my skin is Frankincense and Cypress. But I just ordered Royal Hawaiian Sandalwood so I probably will have a new favorite!
I cant wait to make this, im gonna try with 3 wise men as soon as my order is here.
Patchouli and orange sounds wonderful. Can’t wait to try the combination.
Of all my EO favorites, Lavendar, by far is my choice for the body butter. So calming and just “sweet enough”! Thanks for the great recipe. Can’t wait to “whip” up a batch!
I love Body Butter, I have been looking for the perfect recipe and I think this is it. I want to add Joy to it because it is my favorite oil to use in the morning.
Lavender, Myrrh. Carrot Seed, Helichrysum. Those are my skin oils!
I really love the combination of lavender, cedarwood, and bergamot. I can’t wait to try this recipe!
Can’t wait to try this!
Frankenscense, Bergamot, Lavender and Carrot Seed!
I would love to try Patchouli and Lemon mixed together!! Those are some of my favorite!
Motivation! Love the recipe!
I’ve used orange and vanilla to create a wonderful orange creamsicle scent. A beautiful floral mix is ylang ylang and geranium. A favorite for nighttime is lavender and peace & calming!
I love Ylang Ylang, so I might try that along with the oils suggested!
Lemon and Ylang Ylang Thank you
I will try orange & lavender! Can’t wait.
I love body butter and will use lavender and tea tree, or lavender and carrot seed.
Thank you for the ideas!
I love body butter and will use lavender and tea tree, or lavender and carrot seed.
Lavender, Lemon, Peppermint
Wintergreen and Peppermint
I bet Rose would be amazing!
Love this recipe! I will be making several versions of this……..definitely one with stress away. Also Joy and Orange. Great Christmas gift ideas.
My skin is so dry and cracked on my legs and no store bought creams or lotions work. And believe me I have tried them all. I have been using Coconut Oil and Shea Butter with Frankincense EO, Grapefruit EO and Ylang YlangEO. But I think
I will try the Cocoa Butter in place of the Shea. For the holidays I think Cocoa Butter and Peppermint would be good. Almost smell like a peppermint patty.
i think I would try citrus fresh and Frankincense
I love this recipe! I would use the “Common Sense” oil blend. Who couldn’t use a daily moisturizer with a little “Common Sense” each day. This would be the perfect gift for coworkers too!
I tried making this lotion yesterday and it is wonderful!!! I mixed tangerine, grapefruit, and bergamot and I named it Sunny. I gave some to my 88 yr old mother-in-law who LOVED it! She’s having surgery next week so I think I’ll make a new batch with peace and calming and lavender to help her relax.
The above recipe sounds awesome. I would try Orange oil and peace and calming for a night time body butter.
I just did this and used Frankincense and Lavendar. Love it!!
I’ve been looking forward to making a body butter, as well as a facial moisturizer, because I want to be fully embraced by all-natural, safe, and body enriching formulas which are hard to find in a retail environment (plus, if I make it myself I know it’s truly organic and safe). I plan to make this body butter in multiple batches to see what I think works best for my skin type. Knowing that Lavender is a beautiful choice for skin in general I’ll certainly have a few that include it, but I can’t wait to see how the different combinations turn out!
In my batch of body butter I’m going to try a combo of Orange, Spruce, & Pine.
I would love to try this in both a day and night cream. I would like lavender and cederwood for the night cream and possibly frank and a citrus oil for day cream ( I know citrus is Photosensitive but I’m from Oregon so I don’t have to worry about the sun much during the winter😂).
I love a blend of Frankincense, Geranium, Manuka and Cedarwood :-) This combination goes well with my skin.
Stress Away would be my choice oil for Body Butter. This oil blend would give the body butter an awesome smell with that hint of vanilla.
Frankincense, Myrrh and Geranium
Awesome!
I love Frankincense, Lavender & Sandalwood! For the scent combo and support.
Frankincense would be amazing in this recipe, I would think!
I would mix orange essential oil for an invigorating smell!
What a perfect idea for Christmas gifts. I’ll try some of my friends’ favorites: Frankincense and Lavender for starters. Then I’ll experiment with some combos like Bergamot and Tangerine. Oh what fun! Thank you for this wonderful blog!
I’m excited to try this body butter recipe as gifts for my teacher friends. I’m planning to make several batches using each friend’s favorite oil: Frankincense, Lavender, and Abundance. Then I’ll try mixing a new combo for me: Bergamot and Lemon. Thank you for super ideas on this blog!
I will add Melrose & Lavender. Can’t wait to make it!
