Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.
Whipped Body Butter
Ingredients
- 1 cup organic coconut oil
- 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
- 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)
Directions
- Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
- Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
- Stir in essential oils.
- Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
- Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
- Massage into dry skin!
Inner Child!
There are so many more oils I want to try. It is hard to wait on being able to afford the next one or two.
I love putting Grounding oil in my lotions, my absolute favorite scent.
I love nutmeg, clove & orange in my body butter. Super great to support circulation and uplifting of my mood.
my absolute favorite to put in body butter is frankincense and myrrh! soft and fabulous smelling :)
I will use lavender and frankincense.
I love Geranium and Orange so I’ll try those in my body butter!! :)
Ok… it may seem odd… but one of my FAVORITES is Peace & Calming…I LOVE everything about it & feel it needs no help in it’s fragrance, nor in the experience of feeling wonderful… the therapeutic value alone of P&C is well worth using alone, all15 drops… but for extra fun & flare I would add or interchange depending on season & mood… a drop or 2 of lemon, especially in the warmer months for its marvelous brightness & fresh aroma… 2 drops of Cinnamon bark, for its delicious sweetness, which, for many, especially around the Winter Season helps maintain a feeling of happiness & well-being, and in any & every season… if you need even more sensation of relaxation… a drop or two of our go-to, Lavender for support!
I love the idea of the body butter recipe… and will get some cocoa butter next errand I make to whip up this recipe asap! Thanks so much for all of YLEO’s AWESOME suggestions, recipes, and helps! Please keep them coming!
Many blessings in 2017,
Elaine Word
I love body Butter especially when made with Essential Oils from Young Living. My favorite is Frankincense and Myrrh. Yummy!
Frankincense which is wonderful. Inner Child and Peace and Calming are also great choices.
Rosemary and lavender! Very nice.
I would use joy.
Will this work with Shea Butter??
I look forward to trying using whatever speaks to me from my stash plus tea tree.

Frankensence and Myrrh – what could be a more scentsational gift for winter hands?
I am going to use 7 drops of lavender, 5 of lemon and 2 of Frankincense. I love the smell of lavender and lemon. But frank is so good for supporting the skin so I think adding some of that would be beneficial.
My go to skin regimen is lavender and Frankincense, I’m going to stick with those!
Eucalyptus and spearmint!
Lavender and frankincense.
I would use Thieves and Frankincense.
Christmas Spirit. . . year round!
I make several different kinds. I love to use joy and valor in my daytime lotion. Makes for a happy start of the day
For evening I like to use lavender and peace and calming. Just got tranquil so may have to try that for a bedtime one.
I would have to mix a few scents. I love Cedarwood veiter & lavender to support focus & attention or possibly a citrus or the Christmas blend but would want something more calming for at night like lavender & peace & calming with a little spearmint. I could really use this!!!
Sandalwood and patchouli for me
Perfect timing in winter. My preference is lavender, frankincense and patchouli
Lavender and peppermint my two all time favorites for any spa treatment!
I will put in my body butter combination of Frankincence, Gerainum, Myrrh, Grapefruit, & Ylang Ylang. Sometimes I change by adding Lavender or Melrose.
Cedarwood for sure! It’s so soft and warm and woodsy smelling!
This sounds great! I am off to find cocoa butter!
Thank you for the recipe!! I’m making it today! I’ll make a Gentle Baby for my boys and a Lemongrass for myself!
Lemon and lavender is my favorite combo- just stay out of the sun 🙂
Lavender and Peppermint!!
I made this body butter for Christmas gifts and I used 2 different combos. I used orange and grapefruit in one and lavender and peppermint in the other and they were both great hits! But I prefer the lavender and peppermint combo!
Tangerine, spearmint and lavender. I made a roll on with these and love it.
I actually make this all the time but with shea instead of cocoa butter! It’s divine! I add lavender and frankincense. Both for their skin supportive qualities. 😁
Grapefruit and patchouli is amazing together in it!
Vetiver, Palo Santo, tad of Jasmine or Ylang Ylang.
Frank, stress away, fav oils in a lotion!
I love frank, stress away! Those are two of my fav oils!!
Melrose and lavender. Thanks for the recipe!
Frankincense and Lavender
I love Joy to scent body butter, and add lavender for skin and frankincense too.
Has anyone tried Stress Away? I can’t get enough of that scent!
I would use abundance with a little patchouli.
Rosemary, lavender and lemon
Lavender Lime Rosenary
Ylang ylang oil for sure!
I am trying Release in one batch and Inner Child in the second batch.
SARA is my absolute favorite. Smells divine
