Homemade Body Butter Recipe

Be kind to your hard-working skin! This homemade body butter recipe will leave your skin moisturized and soft, thanks to rich cocoa butter and coconut oil. We love its whipped consistency that goes on smoothly and feels light to the touch.

Whipped Body Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 cup organic coconut oil
  • 1 cup organic solid cocoa butter (do not use lotion)
  • 15 drops of your favorite topical/aromatic essential oil (we love Cedarwood, Lavender, and Frankincense essential oils)

Directions

  1. Warm a medium-sized saucepan over medium heat, then add coconut oil and cocoa butter. Melt until completely liquefied, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. Pour into a glass mixing bowl and place in refrigerator for 30–45 minutes to cool and just set but not harden.
  3. Stir in essential oils.
  4. Using an electric hand mixer, whip until firm peaks form, about 10 minutes.
  5. Gently transfer to a seal-able jar or container. Store at room temperature to avoid melting or solidifying.
  6. Massage into dry skin!

  • I definitely want to try making this. I would use orange (my all-time favorite!) and maybe Lemongrass.

  • I'm going to try a couple batches! One will be Lavender with Lemon. I also will be trying a batch with Christmas Spirit! I would love to have this on my kitchen sink to rub on my hands & arms throughout the day during the holiday season. Any Christmas type scents just lift my spirit & put me in a joyous mood, Christmas spirit is definitely a favorite in my home & I would love to be able to wear it throughout the day! I can't wait to give this body butter a shot, thanks for the new recipe!

  • This sounds super yummy. Currently I am mixing clary sage, rosemary and geranium together with the bath gel so I am going to use those oils along with a little sandalwood in my body butter. This combination is just heavenly!

  • I think I will try the lavender, I am extremely new to using essential oils, so this I do have on hand! I might also try it with the stress away!

  • Sensation.... or Lavender/geranium with Frank.... So many possibilities :-) Geranium/Lavender/Jasmine/Myrrh
