Hi Mychajlo! To safeguard the health of your household members, we suggest diffusing a small amount of each essential oil for short periods of time until you have determined if any of your family members have any sensitivity to diffusing each oil. If you have any other concerns or questions, we recommend reaching out to a health care provider that has experience with EO’s. Thanks for stopping by!
I seem to be allergic to lavender. Any suggestions? I fall asleep easily at night however I wake up at least 3-4 times during the night, thus I am tired in the morning and throughout the day.
Hi Sabrina, If you have a sensitivity to Lavender, we recommend trying the alternate oil mentioned, which is Angelica. You are welcome to try another one of your favorite relaxing oils as well. Thanks for stopping by!
Where do you place your diffusers in your bedroom ? Near you on the night stand or across the room?
Very new to all of this. Just got my kit. Love all the suggestions.
I just got my kit and want to use our diffuser in my sons room to help him sleep. Any recommendations on to what oils to use?
Hi Nikki, Check out some of our suggestions in the post above. Thanks for stopping by!
All my life I have head a hard time going to sleep and staying asleep! What do you suggest to help me with my sleep?
Hi Beth, Try some of the suggestions shown in this post https://www.youngliving.com/blog/the-snooze-routine-tips-for-a-better-nights-sleep/). We hope you find the suggestions given helpful!
Hi Beth!
I find that the citrus scents work really well for me… I use a 2 drops of each tangerine and grapefruit and 1-3 drops of lavender or geranium (usually just 1 tiny drop if I use geranium because the scent is so strong) I put those in the diffuser and what used to take me 30 + minutes to fall asleep I’m now asleep in less than 10. Cedarwood works well for my sister and brother-in-law and many other people I know, However, some people (such as myself) it helps them sleep but they end up having nightmares… which is why I switched to the citrus scents… they work very well for me..
I work the afternoons from 3;30 to 12. Can you put all the oils in the diffuse and have it ready to when you get home and turn it on
Hi Pat! Thanks for stopping by! To help retain the full therapeutic value of the essential oil, we would suggest adding the oil to the diffuser immediately before you are ready to start the diffuser. We also suggest that you store oils in their original containers with the lids on tight in a cool, dark location. We hope this is helpful!
I have found that if I apply my night time oils that I use topically just on my big toe it works just as good as my whole foot, then I am not using to much oils and they last longer!
Hi, I am the first time user. Just a bit confused, how many drops to be put in the diffuser? I’m planning to buy lavender as I’m having trouble in sleeping. Thanks
Hi Waheeda! Welcome! Please refer to the manual directions for your diffuser for advice on how many drops to use.
Hi Waheeda,
Have you signed up as a distributor yet? or are you purchasing at retail? send me an email for more information, thanks look forward to hearing from you.
Is SleepEssence safe for my 12 year old? She’s been having problems sleeping.
Hi Sarah! SleepEssence was formulated for adult use. We would suggest speaking with a health care provider prior to giving the product to your daughter.
I use Peace&Calming (2-3 drops), Valor (1-2 drops) on back of neck/ears, along with Ocotea (1-2 drops) under my tongue. I sleep deep, dream big and wake up rested. Occasionally I change it up by using Cedarwood, center of my forehead, temples and top of my head, (1drop each place) for a deep sleep.
I like to take Frankincense, Oregano, Rosemary && Clary Sage. Can i put them all in the same capsule? Or should i take them each in a separate capsule? I didn’t know if combing them changed its composition or whatever.
Hi Tawnee! You are welcome to combine up to four single essential oils in one capsule for dietary use as long as the individual label directions are followed.
Love all the recommendations for sleep. Is it possible to include the number of drops in each recipe?
Are any of these essential oils safe for kids? I am particularly interested in the Stress Away roll-on, for my 7 year old daughter who has difficulty falling asleep. We already do all the healthy sleep habits, but need something more.
Hi Pam, thanks for stopping by! Many essential oils are appropriate for use with children. Since children have more sensitive skin, essential oils should be diluted prior to use. We offer KidScents products that are prediluted and specifically designed for use with children, including several KidScents oils. For more information, please visit https://www.youngliving.com/us/en/category/kidscents-seedlings. Hope this helps!
Is there just a simple recipe using Lavender with fractionated coconut oil??
Hi Pam,
We have used the kidscents essential oils and are working wonderfult for our kiddos, key is consistency, since they are prediluted already and formulated for kids, you have nothing to measure out. let me know if you need to order or if you are a distributor already thanks!
I cannot wait to get my diffuser. I want to put it in my bedroom so I can experiment with getting more sleep. I am currently taking magnesium before I go to bed and I sleep on an average 96% efficient but I do not feel that I sleep long enough. I am hoping that I can get more sleep with the diffuser and YL oils.
Can I ask what kinda and how much magnesium you take each night to help with sleep? I have insomnia and it takes me forever to fall asleep! :(
My new blend for diffusing in the evening prior to bed is: 6 drops cedarwood, 4 drops Peace & Calming, and 2 drops lavender. Try it!
Hey Beth, I did try your recipe, smell awesome for the whole 8 hours. I like it so much that I try the recipe for my bath, feel like spa as well.
I absolutely love this site! This has helped me with a better night sleep and will definitely help my viewers for my blog!
I tried the stress away and lavender. I put it on my feet and wrists. Amazingly great night, no dreams and actually felt rested in the am. I am going to try diffusing both if I can ever get the diffuser back from my daughter. Loved a great nights sleep.
Hi Judy,
I have recently purchased a home diffuser and sample of oils but nowhere in the literature do I see how much oil to put in the diffuser. Can you share some info on this?
I usually put in 5-10 drops of oils in my diffuser. It’s fun to mix oils too.
Donna, Do you have the product guide 2015? If you do look in the diffuser pages. It tells you how many drops to use.
Stress away is my most favorite oil for falling asleep, especially on nights were my brain won’t shut off. it puts you in a nice deep sleep so that you wake up feeling super rested. I put it on one or all areas, shoulders, temples, wrists and feet and make sure I take 3-5 deepbreaths. The smell alone is so relaxing
I don’t know what I’d do without my Cedarwood & Lavendar to sleep!
that is great info – i work a rotating shift work schedule – days one week, nights the next. just received sleep essence and haven’t tried it yet – i am going to try next set of midnights… i love my cedarwood though – ever going to get western red cedarwood back????
I have used Lavender and Peace and Calming. That helps a lot. We added a drop or two of Frankincense one nigh and everyone in the house was asleep by 9:30 on a Friday night. Amazing!
We diffuse Lavender at night, and I place Stress Away on my wrists and neck while I’m at work during the day. xoxo
I difuse peace and calming and stress away and I sleep like a baby and I also love the way they smell together.
I diffuse Peace and Calming and put Valor on the bottom of my big toes. I sleep so wonderfully!
I diffuse lavender and purification and sometimes add Thieves. It makes me sleep like a baby and purifies the air
I am new to the oils, but my sister Barb is so encouraging! Getting to sleep is a big problem for me and dreams or nightmares are not a rarity. I am prinint out these wonderful suggestions for reference. Thank you so much!
I’ve only just discovered YL Blog, even though I’ve been a distributor for several years. Wish I had had all this great advice and testimony from the beginning. I love my oils and will be visiting here regularly. Thanks for sharing. Namaste.
I use cedar wood and coconut oil on my feet, lavender under my pillow.
I melt several tablespoons of coconut oil Ina double boiler and add Peace & Calming and Valor oils (twice as many P&C drops as V) until the mixture is a pale yellow. I pour into a small jar, let cool & solidify again, and each night I rub a small amt of the mixture on the bottom of each foot. I put socks on until I’m sure it has soaked in. I sleep really well!
So loving these info graphic style images that I can share with my Young Living family in my office. Keep them coming Young Living.
1 drop of Lavender on a cotton pad or ball and slip inside your pillow case! Sleep Essence very good for restless legs! Diffusing stress away and or cedarwood! Lavender rubbed on carotid arteries in neck and on feet settles me down too!! Spending time in prayer and meditating on the Word of God!!!
Thank you, Lucretia! Yes, and Amen!
That last part is certainly the way to go!
I diffuse cedarwood with peace & calming every night, works like a charm!
My girlfriend/team leader just shared this with us. I LOVE her. Thank you.
Beautiful and great info. Is it ok to post on open Facebook with people I know or just “Oilers”? Also can we purchase fliers of this?
Hi Bridget, thanks for stopping by! You’re absolutely welcome to post this publicly on Facebook! We don’t have fliers of this, unfortunately.
Beautiful and great information. Is it ok to share this on Open Facebook with people I know? Or just my little group of oilers?
I go to bed pretty late, and when I do I’m sleepy. But always have my diffuser filled with Cedarwood. For a few months I’ve been doing that faithfully, and I can truly tell a beautiful difference in the quality of my sleep…regardless of being a nite owl.
Diffuse Peace and Calming, Stress Away on the back of my neck and Lavender on my pillow. I sleep through the night!! Love my oils!!’
Before going to bed, I like to practice some yoga, meditate, and use Lavendar and Sandlewood on my feet. Warm socks and fresh linen always do the trick.
I love two things about this post, in particular:
1) The Pinterest-friendly graphic (which I’ve noticed are showing up in your newer posts – thank you!), and
2) Encouraging comments.
As for my own “snooze routine,” I’ve found that praying and meditating before bed help tremendously. I apply whatever nighttime oils I’m guided to, and then I pray, and then I meditate. It might only be 15 minutes, or it might be 30 minutes, and yet the length doesn’t seem to matter so much as the quiet and the inner work.
Peace and gratitude. <3
Encouraging, Ellen. Which yoga poses work well for you?
Great tips! Seems so many are struggling with sleep this time if year, must be in part from the lack of outdoor activies and fresh air.
I love Cedarwood and Peace & Calming, plus Lavender, Velarian, Rutavala, all so good!
Love my Cedarwood at night!
I love to diffuse peace and calming! Rub Lavender on my big toes and if I know I need a really good nights Sleep Essence is a must.
Nicole when you used the Sleep Essence did you have fogginess in the morning at all? How soon before bed did you use it and how many hrs of sleep at the minimum did it require?
I put a drop of Peace & Calming behind my ears every night and I sleep better then I ever have..
Rutavala rolled on feet.
Tranquil on back of neck.
Sleep Essence and Immupro about an hour before bed.
Diffuse Cedarwood or Peace and Calming.
Sweet, restful sleep!
Valor on the bottoms of my feets have helped me sleep!
Sleep Ess. is also great when my stress levels reached heights that I needed more!
