- Use it as part of your skin care regimen in lotions, toners, and cleansers for clean, healthy-looking skin. Keep in mind that Grapefruit is a photosensitive oil. Avoid direct sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after topical application.

Product Background
A hybrid of the pomelo (Citrus maxima) and the sweet orange (Citrus sinensis), grapefruit is more than just a part of your breakfast! The fruit likely originated from Jamaica and was first popularized for consumption in the West Indies before spreading to America and throughout citrus-growing areas. It’s now produced in locations throughout the world, including the United States, South Africa, Brazil, and Israel. The grapefruit tree can grow to be quite large, reaching up to 20 feet tall. It has dense foliage, and the grape-like clusters of the fruit are the source of the plant’s name.

A. Based on the average weight of a fruit and average yield, it takes roughly 11─12 grapefruit to produce 15 ml of Grapefruit essential oil.
Q. Do Young Living’s citrus oils oxidize and expire quickly?
A. Like all of Young Living’s 100 percent pure essential oils, oxidation in citrus oils is greatly reduced and the oils retain their value when they are stored properly: tightly sealed and upright in a dark glass bottle in a cool area free from UV rays.
Q. Does Grapefruit essential oil contain nootkatone?
A. Yes, the sesquiterpene ketone nootkatone is found in trace amounts in Grapefruit essential oil.
Q. Is Grapefruit essential oil obtained from fruit with seeds?
A. Yes, the fruit used to obtain our Grapefruit essential oil has seeds. However, the oil is extracted from cold pressing the rinds of the fruit.
Q. Is Young Living Grapefruit essential oil cold pressed from white or pink grapefruit?
A. We use Citrus paradisi, which can have white, pink, or red fruit. We use white fruit for our Grapefruit essential oil.
