Success motto: Beliefs can inspire dreams, but only actions can achieve results
Before building a business in Young Living, Eric worked in the financial industry, primarily helping companies streamline their structures. Although he was satisfied with his income, he felt stressed at work, and it often left him feeling uneasy as streamlining meant cutting staff. He understood that every time he sent out a letter of termination, he was hurting a family’s financial pillar.
Eric wanted what he did to be worthy of himself and others. So, he decided to choose a different path in his career — this time, he chose to become a boss. He wanted to be in control of his own business and have autonomy. However, he later discovered that running a company involves many unpredictable risks, so his path to entrepreneurship was not a smooth one. Unfortunately, he encountered again the difficult choice of layoffs, and this time the target was his own employees. He had always thought that becoming a boss would allow him to be a good person, but in the end, he found himself having to sacrifice his own colleagues, which left Eric feeling very distressed.
“Is it impossible for goodness and success to coexist in the world?”
Not wanting to experience this sense of powerlessness again, he shifted his focus to investing to seek passive income instead.
Due to health reasons in his family, Eric had been using and sharing Young Living’s products for years. In fact, YL keeps paying him commissions, but he didn’t pay much attention to it. Later, he had the opportunity to meet Gary and Mary, the founders of Young Living, and began to resonate with their vision. From them, Eric realized that kindness and success could co-exist. He saw a glimmer of hope in life and decided to embark on a journey to develop his Young Living business!
Therefore, Eric had to re-learn how to manage his Young Living business, from understanding the products, addressing customer concerns, sharing business opportunities. The most important thing he realized was that Young Living’s products are not only good for health, but also bring in extra income. This allowed his children to take more extracurricular classes or enabled them to hire a domestic helper to take care of their family, and even reduced the financial burden of the family, making life easier and more hopeful for the future. This is a value that Eric had previously overlooked.
He believes that Young Living business is not a ‘zero-sum game’, it isn’t a world where there are only ‘winners’ or ‘losers’. The business opportunity he is sharing could give partners an equal chance to change their lives. How everyone chooses is not determined by Eric, but rather by themselves. He would no longer feel helpless or distressed about it anymore. Hence, he knows that Young Living is the right choice, and it is a pursuit that is worth dedicating his life to!
