D. Gary Young Research Institute

The D. Gary Young Research Institute was established in June 2018 to honor and uphold the vision and quality standards of
our beloved founder and father of the modern-day essential oils movement D. Gary Young after his passing on May 12, 2018.
Formerly Young Living’s Research and Development team, the D. Gary Young Research Institute adopted its new name to
honor Gary’s memory and legacy. The name serves as a continual reminder that Gary’s vision, expertise, and commitment
to quality are forever and fully infused into our product research and development efforts.
Our Seed to Seal® quality commitment, especially the Science pillar, is ingrained in every aspect of the D. Gary Young Research Institute. Innovative product development, quality standards, and rigorous research mean that science is the cornerstone of what we do at Young Living. The scientific staff of the D. Gary Young Research Institute employs cutting-edge methods to develop new products, as well as to help ensure the quality of all our products. Led by Chief Science Officer Dr. Michael Buch, the team works in state-of-the-art labs with some of the most advanced scientific equipment available.

The D. Gary Young Research Institute helps Young Living employ cutting-edge science and research to develop unique products that lead the industry. This team also performs state-of-the-art research to support product claims and uses. With purity and efficacy being paramount to Young Living, the D. Gary Young Research Institute routinely develops new testing methods to help ensure the quality of our products and new formulas.These product formula standards allow only uncompromisingly pure, authentic essential oils into product formulas and never
allow oil-infused formulas to include parabens, artificial colors or dyes, nitrates, GMOs, or phthalates or undergo animal testing.

Many of the highly trained scientists in the D. Gary Young Research Institute worked side by side with Gary in the lab and have absorbed his approach, wisdom, and intentions when it comes to developing new products for Young Living. Going forward, newly formulated products from Young Living will bear a seal from the D. Gary Young Research Institute. This seal is an assurance that Gary’s tradition of quality and innovation has been upheld fully through the development and production of every new Young Living product.
